Once Upon a Time in Mexico: Day 6 Going CocoNUTS in Cancun

By 0 3 m read

We woke up super early this morning, it was bittersweet that we had to leave Merida, but it was off to the beach where the real “vacation” could take place. We made breakfast in our suite, packed the car and hit the road for our 3-hour drive east back to Cancun. This ride was a much smoother ride without incident.

We arrived at Bsea Hotel, I was slightly nervous about this hotel due to the mixed reviews it received online. To our surprise our hotel exceeded our expectations, it was great!

At check-in, we got our room keys and 5 cards for our towel service. You take your card to the designated area they give you towels and when you are finished with the towels you bring them back to be cleaned, they give you your cards back and you could repeat the process as often as need be. There was also token-operated laundry onsite. One of the knocks we did have if we were to nitpick was that there was no wifi in rooms, only in a common seating area that was on the way to the pool. There was also a kids playroom with plenty of activities as well as kiddie pool along with two other pools.

There was a restaurant and bar right next to pool area.  We headed to the room to drop our stuff off and were in sheer awe with how stunning our view was.  We had two floors; the ground floor had two comfortable beds with plenty of space, a nice shower/bathroom, walk-in closet, there was even a dresser to unpack clothes in.

The top level was a full patio, with chairs and a table and afforded us the most beautiful view of the ocean. Perfect spot to catch the sunrise while having some breakfast or settling in for margarita under the stars. Probably the only thing we were unhappy with as far as our room goes were the steep and narrow staircases. Having a one-year-old we did not want any accidents so we ended up using furniture and our luggage to barricade the stairs.

Our room also had a flat screen TV mounted on the wall with about 25 channels 3 of which were for children. We don’t do television in our house so this was like a mini movie theater, haha. It was great for night time when we wanted to settle in the boys.

After we examined our ‘home’ for the next 3 days and unpacked our luggage we decided to give the hotel restaurant a shot because we were starving. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF THE TRIP!!! The food was soooooo terrible and grossly overpriced…definitely not a good look, especially coming from being spoiled by the fine dining in Merida. It was really bad though, even with the Merida cuisine aside, it was probably one of the worst meals of my life but at least it was accompanied by such beautiful view.

We were literally overlooking the beach blue water with a nice ocean breeze. I drank my margarita and choked down what I could of the tacos.

Next stop for us was the private beach, there was a little playhouse with a slide and a swing the boys ran to and we just enjoyed the beach until the sun set and the temperature dropped.

We rinsed off, went back up to the room, changed and talked about the plans for dinner. After the debacle earlier at the hotel restaurant we came to the conclusion that, you know what it was a long day of travel we were just gonna grab some Domino’s. Domino’s was easy and close and to our surprise, it was much better than we can remember compared to Domino’s in New York. We ate our food and got some much-needed shut-eye.
