Our Trippy Tribe is always on the lookout for fun and exciting new family adventures. Hannah was browsing through a local newsletter one random week and stumbled upon The Saratoga Balloon & Craft Festival. We’ve never been to a Hot Air Balloon Festival so we decided, what better time than now to give it a shot.
There was an entry fee to enter the Fairgrounds. It was $10 for Adults, $5 for Children (3-15), and FREE for children two and under. We caught wind of the event late and were only able to attend on the last day but had we known in advance we definitely would have taken advantage of the weekend pass. With the list of activities and things to see and do the weekend pass ($15 adults, $5 children) was a better bang for your buck and in my opinion is probably the best option. The hot air balloons only launch at sunrise and sunset, so if you’re looking to get up up and away it’s best to plan accordingly. Afraid of heights? Or maybe you have no desire to take a hot air balloon ride, nothing to fear, there’s a long list of other activities to keep you and the family entertained. From arts & crafts, to specialty food/beverages vendors, to live entertainment (music, magic, and comedy), The Saratoga Balloon and Crafts Festival has a little something for everyone. LaPharaoh and Amoor wanted no parts of the hot air balloon experience, but they did really enjoy seeing the flames inflate the balloons and watching them get airborne. I’m fairly certain Hannah’s never saw a food vendor she didn’t like, so we dabbled here and there and finished off with a few bags of fresh kettle corn. There was a decent amount of people at the event, it was more popular than I had anticipated. We spent about 4 hours enjoying the festivities before the sunset began approaching. We enjoyed the last few minutes of daylight and decided to get packed up and ready to go.
At this point our parental ‘spidey senses’ were going off, the boys were getting tired and aggy so we made our way to the car. We were still able to see some of the hot air balloons preparing to launch as we made our way toward the exit. It was quite the spectacle at night, all the balloons that launched were brilliantly lit and their light permeated the night’s sky. We really did enjoy ourselves and look forward to more from the Saratoga Balloon & Craft Festival. Another deposit in our memory bank…Nothing like family
